La Gioia is just 2 kilometres from Ascona, nestled amongst the steep cliffs of Ronco sopra Ascona, around 70 metres above Lago Maggiore. It’s a 2,000 m2 oasis surrounded by forests. We can be reached via a private gondola lift. Our 3 modern, exquisitely furnished suites offer magnificent panoramic views across the lake to the Isola di Brissago. On certain days and in special light conditions, this island appears as though it is floating in mid-air.

Our goal is to offer our guests an unforgettable stay that combines positive emotions with wonderful products.
We were greatly inspired on a trip to South Africa. For us, plants are just as much a work of art as paintings and sculptures. We’re energetic rather than esoteric: we draw energy from nature, art, music and good food alike. We laugh together, enjoy the moment, sometimes enjoy a drink, and love relaxed conversations with like-minded people. Everyone deserves to find happiness in something…and we love it whenever this happens.

Passionate hosts
Behind the groundbreaking project La Gioia Ascona we are a married couple: Martina Mittelmann and Andreas Hoffmann.
Martina Mittelmann designs high-quality jewelry in a timeless design, Andreas Hoffmann used to work in the investment industry and developed this extremely competitive business model. Together they form the brains behind the triad of Hideaway, Art & Jewelry in Ronco sopra Ascona from which customers benefit so enormously. Their goal is to become a big player in the jewelry industry with top price performance and best shopping experience.

Our location
in the north
We promote art and are in close contact with ‘our’ artists. One of them is Hamburg painter Michael Sazarin. His work enjoys international recognition and his studio is situated in Hamburg. Our relationship with our artists is very important to us. That’s why we set up a branch in the north German Hanseatic city. Our Creative Art Director, Kamil Frackowiak, is based at our Hamburg office and is responsible for looking after our artists. He discusses and plans upcoming series of paintings and art projects with them, experiments with new techniques in workshops and coordinates the schedule and transportation of paintings. As a result, the Hamburg site forms a bridge between the artists and La Gioia Ascona Arthouse in Ronco sopra Ascona.
